Anchor Software Licence & Terms of Use

Last updated: 27 September 2026

Quiet Form Labs is a trading name of Quiet Form Media Ltd.

These Terms govern your download, installation and use of Anchor, a macOS application supplied by Quiet Form Media Ltd, trading as Quiet Form Labs (“we”, “us”, “our”).

By downloading, installing or using Anchor, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree to them, do not use Anchor.

1. About Anchor

Anchor is a macOS utility designed to help connect, mount and recover network shares, including SMB shares.

Anchor is licensed, not sold. Your licence gives you permission to use the software subject to these Terms.

2. Trial

Anchor may be used on a full-featured trial for 14 days, unless a different trial period is stated at the time of download.

The trial is intended to let you evaluate Anchor before purchasing a licence. When the trial ends, paid functionality may be restricted until a valid licence is activated.

We may change or withdraw a trial offer for future users, but doing so will not retrospectively alter a trial already granted unless required for security, fraud prevention or legal reasons.

3. Licence

A standard Anchor licence is for one individual user and includes up to 3 Mac activations for that user. The standard Anchor licence currently supports:

  • up to 3 active servers
  • multiple configured shares across those servers
  • the features included in the version of Anchor you purchased

Licence keys must not be resold, published, shared publicly or used by multiple users unless the licence purchased expressly allows this.

Volume or organisation licences may have different user, activation or usage limits. Those limits will be shown at the time of purchase or otherwise agreed with us.

Activation and usage limits may be adjusted for future licence tiers or versions, but the limits applying to your licence are those shown at the time of purchase and in Anchor.

You may deactivate a device and activate another device where the licensing system permits this.

We may introduce additional editions, features or licence tiers in future. Your existing licence will continue to provide the rights stated when you purchased it, subject to these Terms and any clearly disclosed changes that are legally permitted.

4. Purchase and payment

Anchor is sold through Polar Software, Inc. (“Polar”), which acts as Merchant of Record for purchases made through Polar checkout.

Polar processes payment, taxes, receipts and related transaction matters under its own buyer terms and privacy policy. Your right to use Anchor is granted by Quiet Form Media Ltd, trading as Quiet Form Labs, under these Terms.

Prices, taxes and available currencies may vary by location and are shown at checkout.

5. Refunds, cancellation and consumer rights

Refunds and transaction-related cancellation requests are handled through Polar in accordance with its checkout terms and applicable law.

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes any statutory rights you have as a consumer.

Where applicable, the checkout process may ask you to consent to immediate supply of digital content or services and acknowledge any effect this has on cancellation rights.

6. Updates

Anchor may check for and offer software updates using its update system.

Updates may include bug fixes, compatibility changes, security fixes and feature improvements.

We may stop supporting older versions where reasonably necessary, for example because of macOS changes, security issues or changes to third-party services on which Anchor depends.

Unless we clearly state otherwise, purchase of Anchor does not guarantee that every future major version, new edition or separately sold feature will be included without additional payment.

7. System and network requirements

Anchor depends on macOS, your local network, your servers/NAS devices, SMB services, credentials and other systems that are outside our control.

You are responsible for maintaining suitable backups and for ensuring that your network shares, server permissions and credentials are correctly configured.

Anchor is not a backup product and should not be relied upon as a substitute for backups or other data-protection measures.

8. Credentials and security

Where Anchor stores credentials, it uses macOS security facilities such as Keychain.

Anchor does not read, inspect or upload the contents of files stored on your network shares.

Passwords and Keychain secrets are not logged or transmitted by Anchor.

You remain responsible for the security of your Macs, network, servers and account credentials.

9. Acceptable use

You must not:

  • copy, distribute, sublicense, rent or resell Anchor except where applicable law gives you a right to do so
  • attempt to bypass licence, activation or usage limits
  • use Anchor in a way that is unlawful or infringes another person’s rights
  • interfere with Anchor’s licensing, update or security mechanisms
  • reverse engineer Anchor except to the limited extent that applicable law expressly permits this despite this restriction

10. Support

Support is provided on a reasonable-efforts basis.

You can contact Quiet Form Labs at support@quietformlabs.com.

We do not guarantee a particular response time unless we expressly agree one with you in writing.

11. Diagnostics and feedback

If you choose to send feedback or diagnostics, Anchor may prepare technical information intended to help diagnose an issue, such as:

  • macOS and Anchor version
  • basic network information
  • configured server and share names
  • recent Anchor logs

Where the app provides a review step, you can review and edit this information before sending it.

Anchor is designed not to include passwords in diagnostics.

See the Anchor Privacy & Diagnostics notice for more information.

12. Availability and warranties

We aim to provide Anchor with reasonable care and skill, but software can contain defects and can be affected by operating-system, network or third-party changes.

Except for rights and warranties that cannot lawfully be excluded, Anchor is provided without any guarantee that it will be uninterrupted, error-free or suitable for every network or server configuration.

Nothing in these Terms excludes any warranty, remedy or other right that applicable law says cannot be excluded.

13. Liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, or death or personal injury caused by negligence where applicable law prevents exclusion.

Subject to that, and to any non-excludable consumer rights, Quiet Form Media Ltd is not responsible for:

  • indirect or consequential loss
  • loss of profits, revenue, business or opportunity
  • loss arising from server, network, internet, macOS or third-party service failures
  • loss of data where reasonable backups could have prevented or reduced the loss

For business users only, and to the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of or in connection with Anchor will not exceed the amount you paid for the relevant Anchor licence in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.

This section does not reduce any rights that consumers have under applicable law.

14. Termination

You may stop using Anchor at any time.

We may suspend or terminate a licence where reasonably necessary if:

  • the licence was obtained fraudulently
  • payment is reversed or refunded
  • the licence is being deliberately shared or used beyond its permitted limits
  • you materially breach these Terms and, where the breach can be remedied, fail to remedy it after reasonable notice

Termination does not affect rights or obligations that arose before termination.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms where reasonably necessary, for example to reflect changes to Anchor, our licensing model, legal requirements or third-party services.

If a change materially reduces the rights attached to an existing paid licence, we will not apply it retrospectively where doing so would be unlawful.

The latest version will be published on the Quiet Form Labs website with its effective date.

16. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, except that if you are a consumer living elsewhere, you may also benefit from mandatory protections provided by the law of your country of residence.

The courts of England and Wales will have jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory consumer rights allowing you to bring proceedings in another court.
